That does sound exciting…With a name like TNT, how could it not be?
This reminds me of one of my favorite I Love Lucy episodes, “Lucy Does A TV Commercial.” Lucy is shilling a tonic called Vitameatavegemin, which has vitamins, meat, vegetables, minerals – and a ton of alcohol in it, which she doesn’t know about. “Do you pop out at parties? Are you unpoopular? Well, are you?”

Two things brought to mind by this item:*Johnny Carson’s “Art Fern” character (as in the “Tea Time Movie” segment, replete with corny-sounding adverts whose directions invariably included the “Slauson Cutoff”).*Cedric Adams, a longtime newsreader on WCCO radio in the Twin Cities whose 10 o’clock newscast was an institution in the Upper Midwest; back when it was sponsored by Taystee Bread, he was reading a commercial for Svenska Limpa (a Swedish rye bread) one night when the pronunciation of the product came out rather imperfect–and, in the process, unleashed unprecedented demand that the bakers were unable to keep up with, even running out of baking pans within days.(Cedric, as everybody called him, was the old-school, straight-from-script type when it came to reading news copy or commercials. And was quite the salesperson; in Taystee Bread’s case, his delivery helped make Taystee the longtime brand leader in the Twin Cities.)
I haven’t seen that “I love Lucy” episode, but the TNT popcorn certainly seems like something my brother and I would have begged mom to buy when we were kids.

A classic clip! I got my daughter a Vitamina Vegemin lady t-shirt a couple of years back. It’s still one of her favorites!

LOL, I meant the actor “director” who was in the commercial with her (sometimes what I’m thinking makes much more sense when it stays in my head than when it comes out) He kept acting like she was just sick or nervous and needed to rest….
Crystal – Yeah, I always thought the director as played by that actor seemed incredibly dense and cheery!
The other guy, Joe, actually read the contents on the bottle so he knew…but he was offstage mostly.
