The Week In Retro: May 26th to June 1st

CNN shows the discovery of a 115 year old baseball board game in a beautiful old house in Independence, Missouri. Why can’t I find stuff like this in MY closets?

It’s not music for your 20 moods, but you can now find Victrola favorites on CD.

Learn how to make a retro Clothespin Bag at Little Grey Bungalow. I’ll bet they would be really useful for all sorts of small items, too.

A delicious retro Frosted Animal Cookies recipe from SusieCakes of Newport Beach, California, via iVillage. In case you aren’t in the neighborhood of Newport Beach.

They sure do love retro candy in Britain. The Beeb answers the perennial question: why would that be? Answer: nostalgia for childhood, stress relief, also it tastes good. I could have told them that! What I do want to know is: why did I ever eat Chuckles or Good N Plenty in the 1960s. I hated them! Am not nostalgic. Enjoy NOT eating them now, actually.

Jewelgirl not only finds the most gorgeous retro jewelry, but this week she has some great vintage finds, including a fabulous mirror.

CNN’s iReporters sure collect a lot of stuff. And some of them need an extra garage or two.

This 1975 commercial is billed on YouTube as the Worst Commercial Ever (there are others called the worst, but this has got to be up there in the top 5). Designed to appeal to no one: dogs, housewives, bosses, people who’ve just eaten…no one. Oh WordPress, why won’t you let me embed YouTube clips? Why must I force people to click!

GoRetroGirl found some great retro-inspired ads, complete with retro-inspired lookalikes – I especially like the James Dean impersonator.
