Extra, Extra Excellent Blogs
Posted by Lidian on April 12, 2008
Julie, who writes the wonderful blog Noshtalgia, has very kindly given Kitchen Retro an ‘E for Excellence’ award – Julie, thank you so so much! It is an honor coming from you. I am supposed to nominate 10 blogs for the award and well, I enjoy reading so many of your blogs that it is going to be awfully tough to choose just 10. I wish I could nominate everyone in my Google Reader and all of you on the Blogroll (which I need to add a whole lot of people to). But here are my ten, whose blogs are what a character in Barbara Park’s Junie B. Jones series called “E+ [which] means extra, extra excellent.”
1. The Old Foodie – I look forward to reading and learning from the Old Foodie every day. This is such a wonderful blog, beautifully written and chockful of fascinating history and cooking info.
2. Rochelle has two blogs that I love, Rochelle’s Vintage and Frugal Recipes and Weird Recipe Finds (I’m counting this as one since I love them both and they compliment each other) – a kindred spirit who loves weird retro recipes as much as me. Which is to say, a lot!
3. Retro-Food - Tarrant’s blog was one of the first I admired long before I started Kitchen-Retroing. Another aficianado of weird and retro cookbooks, and always such fun to read.
4. Recipes of the Damned – Amy, please please write more, I love your writing! And your blog title is so cool!
5. Laura Rebecca’s Kitchen - I learn with great pleasure from the amazing Laura Rebecca, whose recipes always look divine (the complete opposite of most of the stuff I make fun of!).
6. Dispensing Happiness – Hostess of the mostess wonderful Blog Party (which I am going to go to next week, and racking brain right now thinking of something to bring), and fun to read all around.
And now for some vintage blogs I couldn’t do without -
7. The Thrift Shop Romantic - Jenn finds the most amazing things secondhand and she is a terrific writer too. I love it when she takes on retro cookbooks and decorating guides, so much fun!
8. Vallen Queen – Vallen does it all, amazing crafts, vintage finds, cookbook discoveries – she is a Renaissance woman indeed. I am always happy when she posts something new!
9. Jewelgirl Loves Jewelry – And I love her blog! She has the most wonderful vintage pieces and writes about them so enticingly that I want them all…
10. Little Grey Bungalow – Shay’s blog has great vintage ephemera, lots of lovely cats (a huge plus!), fabulous writing – go visit now, I tell you!
In fact, please go visit all of these incredible – and excellent – blogs…And enjoy!
Oh, yeah. I am supposed to tell you all the rules about this award.
1. You are supposed to go choose 10 blogs of any kind that you deem most excellent (I don’t mind if you pick a few more or less than ten, BTW, but ten is the official number from what I gather).
2. Oh, and you are supposed to post about them, linking to me and to them;
3. And please let me know when you have done it! Thanks!

Thank you so much for the lovely award! I do promise to write more–not just because you’re writing rings around me.

Thank you for the award. I am kind of retarded about how the whole thing works though.

It was new to me too – just right click to get the award, and nominate some other people you like (the rule is 10, but I don’t mind how many you do). You link to their sites, and you link to me to let them know where you got it from.
I think that is it..!
